Join us at Data Con LA 2021 (Virtual Event) on Friday, September 17 – Sunday, September 19, 2021.  One of the best and fastest growing community data conferences associated with data technologies. Data Con LA 2021 will be hosting tutorials, a Startup Showcase, and for the first time, a product hackathon.

DataCon Session Tracks

There are six separate session tracks for 2021:

  • AI/ ML/ Data Science
  • Data Engineering
  • Data Infrastructure & Security
  • Emerging Tech
  • Data 4 Good
  • BI/ Reporting/ Business Use Cases

Our colleague, Wendy Howard (@Wendy31927677), a Technical Consultant from eG, will be speaking in the BI/Reporting/Business Use Cases track on 17th September at 12:40 PM – 1:20 PM (PST). Her talk will cover how eG’s AIOps platform is applied to address the problem of slow Java/.NET applications and show the data that can be used to improve application performance. This will be a great dive into technologies used within eG Enterprise aimed at the wider data analysis community.

This is very much a community and technology event, low on sales and even lower on marketing, but high on partner engineering discussing and emerging technologies. Low cost with a nominal $20 fee and 100+ speakers and sessions it attracts a wealth of talent including academics, commercial data scientists, and developers. With an emphasis on knowledge sharing and technologies, it’s also a must-visit for product and engineering managers like those at eG Innovations evolving our products to handle data on ever increasing scales.

There are certainly a few sessions I’ve added to my schedule to catch:

  • 18th September 2021, 10:15 AM – 10:55 AM – “Integrating and Visualizing Data to Make Better Decisions”, Phil Bangayan, Principal Data Scientist, Teradata. This one is of interest to me as the visualization of data is key within the IT and AIOps industries, especially when monitoring large data sets.
  • 17th September 2021, 4:45 PM – 5:25 PM – “Database DevOps with Containers” Rob Richardson, Developer Advocate, Cyral. This talk focuses on getting production data to non-production environments safely. We use containers to deliver the data easily without the need for DBMS install shenanigans. It’s always good to keep up with DevOps workflows as a key use of eG Enterprise is providing insight through the whole pipeline and eliminating observability gaps between staging and production environments.
  • 19th September 2021, 3:05 PM – 3:45 PM, “Top Tips for AI/ML Businesses to Avoid Legal Pitfalls“ – Morvareed Salehpour, Managing Attorney, Salehpour Legal. Discussing the most common legal pitfalls AI/ML businesses experience and best practices to avoid them. Topics covered will include key issues that arise for businesses in legal areas such as intellectual property, contracts, data privacy, and liability. As an enterprise product team, we must keep up to date with best practices on the legal and security side so this type of session alongside the techie engineering ones always appeals.

There’s a fantastic lineup for the key notes and panels, including some very well-respected technical leaders and evangelists, such as Chris Fregly (Principal Developer Advocate, AI and Machine Learning at AWS) and Francesca Lazzeri (Principal Data Scientist Manager at Microsoft).
