Azendoo is a web and mobile application that helps individuals get things done and synchronize their teams. It works as a collaborative tool to simplify team communication, work management and document sharing. In Azendoo, you can discuss with your team, share and store documents, keep track of your group information, and manage all the work you need to do in-team.

Kevin William David interviewed Greg Lefort, CEO at Azendoo to know more.

Hi Gregory, Can you tell us about Azendoo?

Azendoo is a collaboration application that helps teams plan and share tasks, sync on work and priorities, communicate and track progress.

Azendoo enables people to move work forward and get things done, outside of emails and meetings.

Tell me more about why you are building this?

A few years ago, I was syncing teams across multiple countries and projects and it was a nightmare getting the right info at the right time. Sure, we had team chat and other real-time communication application, but it didn’t help us plan and follow-up on things. The net effect is often the opposite: constant notifications, unproductive conversations, lack of outcomes and unclear paths forward.

The idea was therefore to reduce the amount of emails sent between team members and improves teamwork by simplifying daily project management.

How is Azendoo different from what already exists in the market?

Everyone is looking for ways to improve daily productivity and team efficiency at work. There’s a lot of applications out there. Mostly point solutions that people try and leave very quickly.

We’re the only one to reconcile communication and team task management, to let users choose their favorite layout (tasks lists, boards or calendars) and switch at any time. Finally we’re also the only application out-there that bundles time-tracking into a decent team-collaboration app.

Of course, Azendoo integrates with the apps you already love (around 400 of them)

Who uses Azendoo? What types of roles do your customers have at their companies?

Azendoo was designed to fit all kinds of teams and needs. Mainly used by SMB and a few Enterprise teams, Azendoo helps HR, Dev, Marketing, Design teams as well as agencies in various sectors. Azendoo is not an expert app. We designed to so anyone can get immediate value, from a personal and team perspective, in minutes.

Companies like Cisco, Coca-Cola, Intercom, Cartier as well as smaller organisations rely on Azendoo to get work done outside of emails & meetings.

Have there been unique use cases for Azendoo that you hadn’t thought of or expected?

Azendoo was initially designed to take the pain out of syncing work in small to large groups of people. We started with a vision that work predominantly happened internally, with few external interactions. Reason why we provide different profiles to access our app, including external people as guests (partners, providers, consultants, etc.).

Azendoo is so easy and powerful that some of our customers, thanks to that “Guest” feature, turned it into a fully external management app, to maintain relationships with all their customers or work on multiple projects in once.

Were there any early ‘growth hacks’ or tactics that have contributed to your current success?

We are a partner-friendly organization. All major alliances that we signed across time helped us grow faster than we would have been able to on our own. We did boost user acquisition or customer sales via well targeted partnerships and joint go-to-market with Evernote, Box, Microsoft and Cisco.

What were some of the biggest challenges while building the product early on and how did you solve them?

It took us a lot of time finding the appropriate UX.

I mean, it was immensely difficult to hide the complexity of proposing a suitable and easily understandable common work language around priorities and teamwork for the world. We want our users to focus on what matters : adopting our app in seconds, finding value in teams and getting things done in minutes.

What have been some of the most interesting integrations you’ve added? Are there any that have been particularly impactful for you?

People work in documents. A lot!

Although we provide over 400+ integrations, the ones that really make a lot of sense initially are around file storage and knowledge sharing.

Very early in our story, we integrated natively with the likes of Evernote, Google Drive, Microsoft Onedrive, Box, Dropbox, etc.

Finally, What are the top products that you depend on to run the company & how do you use them?

Azendoo: Surely within our team to track tasks and projects: develop our product, onboarding of colleagues, communicate on events we are attending, share information on clients….

Intercom: We use intercom for our customer interactions on-site and in-app. From responding to questions about product/pricing, to increasing engagement with users inside our platform.

Kissmetrics: To get, keep and grow more customers with Kissmetrics behavioral analytics and engagement platform.

Buffer: To plan, manage and organize our social content. It is time saving since we don’t need to publish manually our posts.

InVision: Invision allows us to present to the team all of our design projects. Interaction is permitted with our team directly on the screens until the final result.
