PMs working together raises everyone

Over the years, Product Management Festival has had the privilege of meeting many product managers from around the world.

Despite product managers coming from different geographies, industries, and company size, we heard the same question from them: “What are other product managers — of my level — doing?”

And these people desired greater awareness in how their peers addressed some of the toughest questions for their organisations like areas to invest, balancing strategy versus execution, and other personnel, process, and technological concerns.

Thus we launched our now annual Trends and Benchmark in Product Management Report. We want to continue providing you with an accurate picture of what the product management community oversees and invite you to contribute your input to our 15 minute product management benchmarking survey.

the PM benchmarking survey covers 4 areas

Your participation greatly adds to this knowledge base that will be available to the product management community, helping inform strategic decisions and effect change.

To highlight a few areas from last year’s survey results:

PM Organisation

We asked respondents what was the level of PM maturity within their organisations.

Of the people surveyed, 71% of people actively searching for a job were seeking product management and organisational maturity.

If you’re looking to grow your team, it’s good to understand what areas can make you competitive as an organisation for which to work.

PM Process

Looking to put some processes in place? We asked what methods and processes were being used and how satisfied the respondents were with them:

External data points like this could help inform decisions on what to consider (or not) if you’re looking to introduce or change some methods/processes. And by including your input for this year, we can also show how/if trends have been shifting.

People

A PM organization is made up of… people. These folks have a network and know what others are up to. When a PM org is not competitive, it can be tough to retain talent. Perhaps understanding how this mix of experiences has changed over time can help your organization understand where it can implement some small changes that could help make big differences to the team culture or competitiveness.

Your Input Counts!

Finally, the survey showed the data broken down by titles, sectors, company size, geographies, etc. Represent your country and more when you contribute to our survey!

The survey time should take 15 minutes. All survey participants will:

  • Be entered into a drawing to WIN a free ticket to Product Management Festival 2018 on 14–15 Nov in Zurich (value 1290 CHF)
  • Receive a copy of the final report once it’s published

Begin the survey here. Thank you in advance for your participation! We look forward to sharing the results with you and the PM community afterward.
