They say Knowledge is Power. Is it true?

I still remember this line "knowledge is power" was scribed on the walls of one of the classroom in my school. I was really moved by this line and started filling in my brain as much as possible. I still do it.

Thanks to the Internet, it is not very difficult to improve one's knowledge about anything and everything. I believed that as I have the knowledge, I have the power. Power to be successful, Power to live my life the way I want, Power to afford the luxuries of life, Power to uplift a few of the not so lucky fellows around me. But off late, I had started doubting this understanding of mine about knowledge. After a lot of head scratch, I have come to the conclusion that this proverb is both True and False.

Knowledge is for sure power but then it is in the form of a potential energy. I have knowledge about the motor engine and so I have the potential power to design a new engine which will is more eco-friendly, has better mileage, has low maintenance. These are the potential outcomes if I apply my knowledge of engines.

In this context, it is true to say knowledge is Power. Knowledge is like a bullet in the pistol. It has the potential to kill a person provided the trigger is pressed. It is like a rocket capable of taking you onto Moon standing on the launchpad.

What I mean to say is having knowledge is having power in stand-still state or idle state. To realize the real power, to realize the real worth of knowledge; one has to apply it, get it into motion i.e converting Potential energy into Kinetic energy. When this conversion of knowledge takes place, we call innovation is happening, we call creative thinking is taking place, we call out of the box solution is found.

Let's get on with the conversion work guys...
