Product management doesn’t run Engineering; Engineering runs Engineering. And at least in public, Engineering and Product leadership need to be shoulder-to-shoulder , actively supporting each other at every turn. But there are some engineering team configurations that I see as problematic. So

Engineering and Product are written off as intellectual time-wasters. We spin up outbound marketing/support efforts too early. Engineering concept validation” ( NON-REVENUE ). Our maker teams and go-to-market groups work too hard for us to confuse each other. This short-circuits learning and slows down delivery.

having a CSM) versus a control group where no CSM is assigned. They would need to be careful to make sure there is no “bias” in the group design. For example, you couldn’t have the test group be the customers who wanted to engage with a CSM (since those might be more likely to stay anyways). So what do we do?

Even here in Houston, TX, which isn’t the typical tech hub you would think of like Silicon Valley, there’s a lot of PM groups and meetups that have popped up in order to cater to this demand. Engineers (software engineers, quality assurance engineers, etc.) Services (customer support, training, etc.)

What does a leader of Customer Success, Professional Services, Support, Training, etc. Each group in a company needed to be excellent at their own silo. Sales engineers conduct demos. use as a title ? What’s In a Name? Marketers create leads. Salespeople close deals. What’s In a Diagram?
