A few weeks ago, Brian Chesky, the CEO of Airbnb, said they were “getting rid fo Product Managers”. Which created an insane swirl in the community. He later clarified and said it was not going away, but morphing this into a more business related role, rather than purely tech. I don't think this is a bad thing. Product Management has always firmly sat between business, tech, and the user/customer.

This was in the context of a link to someone training / fine-tuning an LLM for the full corpus of AWS documentation. Many pointed out that ChatGPT probably does it better; lots of whining about “but ChatGPT gives me wrong answers, boo hoo hoo,” and then this gem. In a conversation with a venture partner yesterday, I was talking up the value that ChatGPT can bring to knowledge workers. He responded that their firm had a policy against putting any confidential data into ChatGPT. My reaction was, that applies to the free version and / or the old days, that with the advent of paid subscriptions, OpenAI no longer trained their models using inputs from subscribers.
