Listen to the audio version of this article: [link] Confusing Vision with Strategy For a product vision to be effective, it is best captured by a simple, easy-to-understand statement or slogan. For example, the vision for a presentation tool like Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides might be “inform and inspire people.” What the product vision shouldn’t be, though, is a strategic decision-making framework.
Trying to adopt the product operating model ? One of the keys to success is remembering that it’s not just about product teams—it’s an organization-wide transformation. This is why Hope Gurion and I have been doing a series on organizational change. The leap to a larger organization was a significant step in my career, but the initial excitement quickly met a complex reality. In my previous roles, design approval was straightforward. But here it was a negotiation between a host of powerful stakeholders. The Head of Engineering focused on feasibility, the VP of Products on market fit, and the Head of Design on system consistency.
Smaller teams spend less time on internal communication and coordination. In fact, adding a seventh person to a six-person team can actually reduce overall efficiency; the extra coordination costs outweigh the benefits of another contributor. Subscribe to my weekly Nano-letter: Sign Up So if I’m managing a group of 10, it’s often more effective to split them into two teams of five, each focused on a separate project.

When millions of conversations flow through your platform daily, reliability isn’t just a technical metric – it’s the foundation of customer trust. At Intercom, where our AI Agent Fin resolves millions of customer inquiries autonomously, reliability starts with one essential question: Can our customers do the job they’re hired us to do? This question has led us to develop what we call “heartbeat metrics” – vital signs that instantly tell us if our systems are truly serving their purp

There’s a lot of noise surrounding the ability of AI agents to connect to your tools, systems and data. But building an AI application into a reliable, secure workflow agent isn’t as simple as plugging in an API. As an engineering leader, it can be challenging to make sense of this evolving landscape, but agent tooling provides such high value that it’s critical we figure out how to move forward.

Too many product managers wear busy as a badge of honor. Back-to-back meetings, overflowing calendars, constant context switching. It feels like progress, but it’s often just motion without meaning. A product leader once told me, “You’re not lazy. You’re hijacked.” They weren’t procrastinating. They were reacting all day, every day. By the end of the week, they were exhausted and still no closer to meaningful outcomes.
Average Order Value (AOV) is a widely used metric in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), but it can be surprisingly deceptive. While the formula itself is simple—summing all order values and dividing by the number of orders—the real challenge lies within the data itself. The problem with averaging AOV is not a “democratic” measure. A single high-spending customer can easily spend 10 or even 100 times more than your average customer.

Hey friends, I’ve got a quick but important update. As shared back on May 27, our Slack community will officially be shutting down on June 30th 2025. Yep, after years of DMs and link drops, it’s time to say goodbye to the workspace that’s housed some of the community for so long. Slack was an incredible starting point for Product Coalition—it helped us grow into the world’s largest unaffiliated product management community.
In today’s competitive landscape, many businesses find themselves stuck in a cycle of slowed, inconsistent growth despite having access to huge amounts of data. You might be seeing crappy conversion rates, relying on generic customer profiles, and launching marketing campaigns that simply fall flat. This isn’t just a minor hiccup; it’s a symptom of a significant underlying issue: customer blind spots.
In our latest case study, we take a look at how the Centercode platform helped ultra-rugged smartphone manufacturer Sonim Technologies better support their developer community and connect with their customers.

Not everyone who conceives a tech product idea has a technical background. What should you do if you’re one of them – build a team internally or turn to an outsourced product development company? If you are the non-tech founder, you pretty much have the following four options: Find a tech co-founder (akin to finding a life-partner) Hire in-house tech team (a longer learning curve and high investments) Outsource product development (preferred by many non-tech founders for MVP stage) L
